Jayden's first birthday!

(Please see the very end of this post for the 2 VIDEO CLIPS).

Grandpa and Grandma came for the weekend....That was fun!

The birthday itself started out with a very special breakfast, which put me (Jayden) in a very good mood!

Wow, what's that?? (first gift opening)

Yeh! A ball!!!!!

Guests arriving for the party....

What a fun bunch!

"Hey Jayden, let me get that off for you..."

(Jayden): "Wait, what are you trying to do?"

Funny balloons, sticking to my head!

Kissing time!

Friends!!!

Good thing we had 2 birthday cakes: one for Jayden and one for the guests (as you can see later)!

Singing: "Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you...."

Jayden was pretty sure something cool was happening here!

At first, he started out rather gingerly....

But it didn't take long until he was laughing histerically and beating the cake with both hands until it was totally unrecognizable.

Yum, good stuff (we didn't let him have a lot of it though--his first real experience with sugar!)

Wow, what a face! Enough for supper too!

The cake was absolutely demolished after just a couple minutes of Jayden's special attention!
Next day "afterglow"!

Snapshots: month 12

"I might be getting to be a "big boy", but never too big to ride!"

Wow, what these winter months and dry climate do to poor baby cheeks!

It's also amazing what the winter can do to poor little bodies. Jayden was sick with a chest cold for a full 2 weeks, and when that was finally giving us a break, the gastro-intestinal flu hit full force.

"Ya", says Jayden, "And the worst part of that was that I couldn't eat for nearly a full week. That was a bummer, to say the least."

It was so unusual to see my never-wind-down "toy" (boy!) just laying around whining all day long.

But new life always comes again, thank God!...
And with it, TROUBLE !!!!!!
"Caught ya! Jayden, what have you been doing???"
"Oh dear, Mom, I didn't expect you so soon!"
Sentence: proven guilty of first-degree vandalism!
Jayden is not only a master of making messes (and faster than you can blink!) from unloading drawers and throwing things down the stairs, but he's also a master of making messes while eating (well, I should say it's more like mashing food and stuffing it rather ungracefully into the upper oral cavity) !
He also loves his new skill of walking like big people do....
"Wow, this is GREAT stuff!"
"But the absolute BEST is banging stuff ... and making LOTS of noise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Of course, there are "bad hair days" for everyone, even babies!
